A very popular castle among the castles because this was the joint castle of the Croatian noble families of Frankopan and Zrinski. The Frankopan family was one of the leading Croatian aristocratic families from the 12th to the 17th century. Along with the members of the Zrinski family the Frankopan ranked high in terms of importance by virtue of power, wealth, fame, glory and role in Croatian and Hungarian history.
A castle offers a wonderful trip to the past. Near is the bigger town, Karlovac and it's also very near is the Slovenian border. The castle is very interesting and important historically.
The view of the castle from the outside is impressive. The gardens and surrounding views are absolutely stunning. In the castle is located the Heritage Museum which was founded in 1971. The museum tells of the history of the area and contains prehistoric, old Roman and medieval archeological finds.
If you are traveling through Karlovac region it is a must see. Definitely worth to visit.
